ARR 2023 Membership Awards
Community - we’re nothing without it! Whether you join every group run, are a weekend warrior, or hop in and out of runs, you make this community better. Every year, we open nominations for ARR members to submit names of road runners who are leading the pack - serving other members, breaking PRs, or putting in the consistent work. Here are the categories:
Community Ambassador Award:
For the Athens Road Runner who best embodies Athens Road Runners. This is a person who goes above and beyond to help out: from greeting a new member and making sure they don’t miss a turn at a group run, to serving as a course monitor at local races, to welcoming all persons from the community.
Great Strides Award:
An award for an athlete with a breakthrough year. Maybe it’s a new runner who is blowing everyone away. Maybe it’s someone’s first 5k or marathon. Maybe it’s someone’s first BQ. Maybe someone broke 30 minutes in a 5k for the first time. Who had the biggest gains this year? Let’s celebrate runners working hard making great strides and setting personal records.
Front Runner Award:
For a runner with a history of excellence racing and demonstrating the mission of Athens Road Runners. These are our longtime members who race well and represent the club well.
In It for the Long Run (aka: Tough as Nails) Award:
This is a runner who has been running a long time and has stuck with running through thick and thin. This person could be running while carrying the weight of a physical limitation, sick partner, caring for a parent, stress of life, etc.
