Who We Are

Athens Road Runners is a community of runners of all ages and abilities, located in Athens, Georgia, USA. Our mission is to foster an inclusive and supportive community where runners and walkers of all abilities are empowered to achieve their fitness, friendship, and training goals. We are a registered affiliate chapter of the Road Runners Clubs of America (RRCA), the oldest and largest organization in the United States dedicated to distance running, and a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Athens Road Runners is governed by a volunteer board of directors whose members actively serve the Athens community in a variety of ways.

WHAT WE DO

We connect runners in the Classic City. We connect runners with runners, runners with races, and runners with routines. There’s a strong history of competitive yet encouraging running in Athens, GA. The Athens Road Runners was formed to honor that history and to inspire the next wave of athletes. We offer structured runs throughout the week, including a speed workout led by a certified coach.

We are also part of the historical, national running community as a registered club with the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA). In 2024, we hosted the Southern Region One-Mile Championship during our Milledge Mile Race. Our RRCA registration helps us connect runners across the region.

MEMBERSHIP

Individual runners, couples, and families can join the Athens Road Runners and benefit from the camaraderie, encouragement, and support a running community provides. All memberships are valid for one year. Renewal outreach begins in the fall.
